Easing Election Anxiety
We’re offically less than two weeks away from Election Day, and anxiety among most Americans is at a fevered pitch. If you’re watching the news, especially election news, consider giving it up.
Chris Guillebeau, author of The Non-Conformist, literally says,
STOP PAYING ATTENTION to polls, predictions, and pundits. None of these things make you “more informed” or otherwise do you any good. In fact, they are quite possibly making you anxious and stressed out—and it will only get worse as November draws closer.
Instead focus on something positive you can do. Connection and a sense of belonging are excellent tools to help take the edge off.
Talk a walk in your neighborhood and greet the people you pass. It doesn’t matter if your beliefs are similar or not, being seen, feeling welcomed is vital to us all. It’s also a great reminder that at our core, we are more alike than we are different. And remember:
Peace begins with us. Work to be a better person. Enrich your neighborhood.
Develop your inner world. Deepen your circle of true friends and real relationships.
We will get through this no matter what comes.
