The Importance of Neighbors
The idea for the Four Neighbors Foundation was born from countless stories I’d read about neighbors coming to the rescue of other neighbors during disasters including the Pandemic, which was it’s own type of disaster. As I continued to explore this phenomenon, I stumbled across an old segment from NPR’s Hidden Brain called ‘The Key To Disaster Survival? Friends and Neighbors’. The big takeaway is summarized in this quote from Dan Aldrich, the political scientist who studies disaster survival:
“Really, at the end of the day, the people who will save you, and the people who will help you, they're usually neighbors."
